Regarding the Motor

Does the Motor make noise when it is working?

The Motor is super quiet when it is in motion with only 33db noise ratio.

You will hear almost no noise from the Motor. You may hear a very light and low noise from the curtain moving sound.

What if there is a power outage?

You can hand pull the curtain if there is no power.

What if I can't find my Remote Control?

The Motor has a “pull to start” function.

By pulling the curtain a few inches either direction, it will activate the Motor to move the curtain to the end.

What are the differences among the different model of Motors (S168A, S168-3Y, S168-WiFi, S168-4Y, S168-6Y) ?

The major difference among them is: how the motor is connected to power.

S168A:     Power Adapter
S168-3Y: Hard Wired to 100 to 240V electrical wires
S168-4Y: Hard Wired to a Wall Control (or a relay) where the electrical wires 110V are also connected.
S168-6Y: Hard Wired to a Wall Control (or a relay) but the electrical wires are externally connected to 110V electrical wires.

Regarding the Track

Q: How do I measure track size?

There is no need to consider the Motor since it is mounted inside the track. Once the curtain is up, the Motor will be covered at all time.

Is the Motor on Left or on Right of the track?

For Center Opening Track, the Motor can be attached on either end of the track.

For Left   Pull (left     stacking) Track,  the Motor is on the left.

For Right Pull (Right stacking) Track,  the Motor is on the right.

Can I cut short the track myself?

The track can be cut short but it requires electric saw with special blade and it will involve disassembling and assembling the mechanism of the track. It might take a while with extreme care to avoid replacing internal parts even though we provide video instructions. Please provide the exact track measurement for the installation space (see above drawing) when placing the order. There is no service charge of having the track cut to the exact size needed.

How do I find out the curtain weight?

Ask the curtain supplier or see below as reference:

How many Eyelets (curtain runners) are built on the track?

As the industry standard for drapery, there will be a hook every 4″ on a curtain.

The track is also built with an eyelet every 4″ as default. E.g.   10 feet track = 120″ / 4 = 30pcs

If the curtain is designed with more (or less) curtain hooks, please request more (or less) eyelets to be put on the curtain track.

There is no additional charge on the request.

It will be complicated to add or remove eyelets by yourself so please notify us once the order is placed if there is a need to add or deduct the # of eyelets.

How much track space is required for the curtain stacking at the end?

Note: In case the curtain is pleated, or fabric is thick, or spacing between hooks on the curtain is less than 4″, stacking area will increase.

Please consult with the curtain maker for verification.

What is single track or dual-track for?

Single Track is for when there is only a curtain, while dual-track is needed when there is a sheer behind the curtain.

Can I use any curtain?

The Motorized Track is designed for the curtains with hooks, pleated or non-pleated.

The Motorized Track can be converted for Ripple Fold Curtains which must be sewed with the Ripple Fold Snap Belt we provide so that it can be attached to the Ripple Fold Runners on the Track.

Regarding the Controls

Can I use the Remote Control to operate more than 1 curtain?

Yes. Remote Control has 1-Channel, 3-Channel, 7-Chanel, 9-Channel, 32-Channel

Motor can be assigned many channel #s on it.

If the Motor is assigned with a unique channel# and a common channel#, then the Motor (curtain) is operated individually when the unique Channel# is selected on the Remote Control.

The group of Motors (curtains) will be operated at the same time when the common channel# is selected on the Remote Control.  A Motor can be in multiple groups.

e.g. If you have a 3-channel Remote Control and there are 2 curtains.  They can be operated as follow:
Channel 1 operates 1st curtain only

Channel 2 operates 2nd curtain only

Channel 3 operates both curtains simultaneously.

e.g.  If there are 3 curtains and a 7-channel Remote Control in the room, they can be operated as follow:

Channel 1 operates 1st curtain only

Channel 2 operates 2nd curtain only

Channel 3 operates 3rd curtain only

Channel 4 operates 1st and 2nd curtain together

Channel 5 operates 2nd and 3rd curtains together

Channel 6 operates 1st and 3rd curtain together

Channel 7 operates all 3 curtains simultaneously.

Is there a Timer to schedule opening / closing the curtain ?

Yes. There is a Smart Control Kit on the ACCESSORIES page which has the following functions:

                   – Schedule the curtain to open/close multiple times daily.

                   – Operate the curtain on Smart Phone (Google Android / Apple IOS) and iPad.

                   – Operate the curtain by voice if you have voice assistance device such as Amazon Echo or Google Home

Please be noted that it only works with S168-A and S168-3Y motors.

Does it work with Amazon Echo (Alexa) or Google Home or Apple HomeKit?

For Simple DIY, it can be achieved using the Smart Control Kit and S168A and S168-3Y motors.

For high end home automation systems such as Control4, Z-wave, Crestron, Insteon, Savant, etc., it can be achieved by Low Voltage connecting or High Voltage connecting as follow:

      – For Dry Contact in Low Voltage, select from the ACCESSORIES page the 6-Pin RJ-12 Port to be built-in on the Motor (S168A, S168-3Y, S168-6Y)

      – For High Voltage connecting, select the Motor S168-4Y or S168-6Y.

After the setup, these home automation systems are able to connect to those voice assistance devices (Google Home, Amazon Echo , Apple HomeKit)

How do I connect the curtain to Home Automatic systems such as Control 4, Z-wave, Crestron, Insteon, Samsung SmartThings, Wink, etc.
